Paracetamol & Pregnancy
Guidance issued by the Health Products Regulatory Agency (HPRA), the regulatory body for medicines in Ireland, states that paracetamol is an important treatment option for the management of fever and pain in pregnancy and available evidence does not link its use to causing autism in children. The HSE also advises that paracetamol is safe to take in pregnancy. Pregnant women are advised to follow instructions and guidance when taking paracetamol and to always read the medicine package leaflet. Speak to your healthcare professional if you have questions about any medicines during pregnancy.
