What is the Prescription Ordering Service?

The Boots Prescription Ordering Service* is a free and simple way to order your prescriptions online via the Boots app. You can order one-off or repeat prescriptions for yourself, your family or someone you care for. It’s super easy. Once you’ve placed your order, we’ll let you know when your medicine is ready.5,10

Do you care for a family member, friend, or loved one? With their consent, you can manage your whole family’s prescriptions from one account. You can order their prescriptions and collect on their behalf. Once logged into the Boots app, simply add a new patient and select their nominated pharmacy.

How to use the Prescription Ordering Service

We recommend placing an order 5 days before you are due to run out of medication.2

Download and get started


Download the app and create your account. You can find the prescription ordering button in the Healthcare tab. Create your profile and get started on ordering new or repeat prescriptions from your chosen pharmacy.*

Stay in the loop


Once the pharmacy receives your order, they will let you know and share updates both in the app and via text message.5,10   You'll also get a message when your order is ready to collect.

Repeat Prescription Service

Enjoy hassle-free medication management with our repeat prescription service. Simply leave your prescription with us and we'll take care of the rest. Each month, we'll prepare your prescription without you needing to request a refill. When your medicines are ready, you'll receive a convenient text notification. 

The service is designed for your convenience, efficiency, and peace of mind. If you ever need to change your prescription order, you can do so easily through our app. 


How to sign up?

  • Visit your local Boots and speak to a member of our team to register your interest.
  • Once you've registered and left your prescription with us, we'll take care of the rest and notify you when it's ready. **
  • If you have any amends to your monthly prescription, you can order these through our Boots app.

Frequently asked questions

You can use the service to order your prescription medications once you have a legally valid prescription. This can be the original paper prescription or one that a prescriber has sent electronically to the pharmacy via Healthmail.


To place an order, you must be aged 16 or over. 

To place an order, you must be aged 16 or over. However, you may place an order on behalf of someone under 16. Start by downloading the Boots app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).


Once installed:


- Log in or create a Boots account if you don’t have one yet.

- Select “Pharmacy" & then "Prescriptions" from the main menu. 

- Select "New Prescription" or "Repeat prescription" where your prescription is already in selected pharmacy

- Confirm your order and select your nominated pharmacy

- Submit order and wait for further updates in the messaging section within the Boots app

The ‘Order history’ section in the app will show the latest updates relating to the status of your prescription order. Once your prescription is ready for collection, you will be alerted via a text message and depending on your in app notification preferences, additional status updates will also be received via push notification. You will also be notified if there is a problem with your prescription that may cause a delay.

Yes! The app allows you to place an order on behalf of someone else, as long as you have their consent and necessary details (e.g., prescription information). Just make sure to provide accurate information to avoid any delays.

Yes, you must have a valid prescription issued by your doctor or other prescriber to order a prescription via our app. This can be the original signed paper prescription or one that a prescriber has sent electronically to the pharmacy via Healthmail. 

We aim to process your prescription order as quickly as possible. Prescription orders are typically processed within 1-2 business days. Once your medication is ready, you’ll receive a notification to either pick it up at your nominated pharmacy. Please see Terms and Conditions for more details.

Yes! The app allows you to order repeat prescriptions if your doctor has prescribed medicines that can be repeated and your nominated pharmacy has a valid prescription for you. You can select ‘same as last month’ or specify your requirements in the app, making it easy and convenient to manage ongoing prescription orders.

No. Boots do not currently offer a prescription delivery service. You must collect your prescription from your nominated pharmacy. 

The Boots app and use of the prescription ordering service is free, but charges may apply for prescriptions. These charges are paid for at the point of prescription collection in your nominated pharmacy.

If you experience any issues with your order, please contact our customer support team via the app's help section or call the pharmacy where your prescription was submitted (find our pharmacy contact details in this link). 

Yes, we take your privacy and security seriously. All personal information, including prescription order details, is encrypted and stored in accordance with GDPR guidelines. We follow strict protocols to ensure that your data is protected at all times.  

Yes, you can track the status of your prescription order through the app. You will receive messages which are visible under order history, at each step of the process, including when your prescription is ready for collection or dispatched for delivery. You will also receive a text message when your prescription is ready for collection.

Cost of dispensed medication will be separate to cost of prescription generation or doctor consultation. We are not responsible for third party website content.

For urgent prescriptions: please mark as ‘urgent’ at the prompt in the app for review by the pharmacy. Same day service is not guaranteed and is subject to pharmacist, stock availability and pharmacy opening hours

When ordering on behalf of someone else, the Text Message will be sent to the mobile number recorded for that individual

Any Changes made to profile via App will be updated in the Pharmacy once the order is placed via App.
