It works by physically soothing the lice and also contains Penetrol which helps the product to penetrate louse eggs in order to kill them. The gel can safely be used as often as required without lice developing resistance.

  • easy to apply
  • skin friendly
  • no nasty odour
  • contains no pesticides
  • with penetrol to boost egg kill

How to use

Hedrin Once Spray Gel has been specially formulated with non-volatile ingredients. However, normal safety precautions should be observed. Hair and clothing should always be kept away from naked flames and other sources of ignition.

If a member of the family has live head lice, check other family members and treat all other cases of live head lice, which are discovered at the same time.

The spray comes ready assembled. Before use, remove the coloured safety clip from under the spray nozzle. This may be retained or disposed of safely.

Cover the shoulders with a towel.

Holding the spray approximately 10cm from the hair carefully spray sufficient gel evenly over dry hair, to ensure the scalp and hair are fully covered and the hair is SATURATED.

Be careful not to spray into eyes and face and do not breathe the spray.

Work into hair with the fingers or an ordinary comb spreading the gel thoroughly and evenly from root to tips.

Leave hair for at least 15 minutes (or longer if more convenient)

Apply shampoo directly to the entire surface of the hair without first wetting, shampoo thoroughly then rinse with water. Repeat process, and then apply conditioner, rinse and dry. Hedrin Once Spray Gel contains anti-foaming ingredients so the shampoo will not lather readily. If necessary, repeat the whole procedure remembering to apply shampoo directly to dry hair.

Good, but shampooing out can be difficult Product is easy to use - just spray thoroughly and comb through, leaving for 15 minutes. However, although the instructions correctly say that you need to put shampoo on before wetting hair, and I used a quarter of a bottle of shampoo to try and get the product out of my hair, I was still left with a film of product , as my hair is very thick. The children (and hubbie) have much finer hair, and they had no problem with removal using a few handfuls of shampoo each. So, just a warning if your hair is very thick, use VAST amounts of shampoo directly over all of the hair to remove the product. I didn't actually have nits, although my two young nephews did have them, and I treated their hair, so felt it necessary to exercise caution and do all of my family's too, just in case. The spray gel doesn't come with a nit comb - it claims to kill both nits and eggs and just recommends a normal comb but, if you want to also manually remove them from the hair, you'll need to get a nit comb separately (ordinary combs have far too wide teeth IMO). Other products in the Hedrin range do come with combs, but their application process is different. This one works well, and we've had no re-emergence of nits in the children a week after treating them. July 26, 2014
Not recommend I would not recommend this product. Used it a couple of weeks ago in all the family. It is easy to apply but very difficult to remove. Took me several days and vast amounts of shampoo to actually get rid off the oily feeling in hair. Worst of all, it did not kill the nits. November 2, 2014
Effective but totally impractical We've used this twice in the last 6 months for repeat infestations and this review applies to both. Seems to do what it says it will but even following the wash out instructions to the letter (and masses of shampoo on the 'dry' hair) STILL couldn't get it out. It's not fair or practical to make a young child have their hair washed and dried repeatedly so they can go to school without very greasy hair after using this stuff. As another poster said, took days and days to come out. Even dry hair shampoo couldn't rescue it to look OK enough to go out. Maybe we put too much on? There was no guidance as to how much to use or how many average uses in a bottle. January 17, 2016
