Get summer ready from top to toe

Prepare to soak up summer

Getting prepped for (potentially) warmer months can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. Hair removal, pedicures, moisturising… where to start?! Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. With some useful tips and essential products, we’ll help you get top-to-toe ready for the summer – so go on and soak it up!

For hair-free legs…

If you feel like you’re constantly shaving your legs throughout the summer, you might want to try something a little more long-lasting. Why not give waxing a go? It’s not as painful as it once was. Nair Salon Divine Body Wax Bye Bye Pain Formula contains argan oil to care for skin, and will leave it soft to the touch for up to four weeks. Check out our article on how to wax at home.

For sandal-ready feet…

After months of being hidden in socks and shoes during winter, are your feet dry and heels scaly? You’re not alone. But a little at-home TLC can have them revived for the big reveal in about a week. Start by whizzing the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi Foot File over your feet to remove any hard, dead skin.

Next, they’ll need moisture. Every night, slather on a foot cream with hydrating ingredients such as urea, which helps reduce dry skin cells. Dr. Ceuticals Foot Rescue SOS Cream is perfect for the job - apply generously, then wear socks in bed.

For smooth upper-arms…

If you’d like to live in vest tops during summer but feel a bit self-conscious about the rough, dry skin on your upper arms, don’t despair. Exfoliating little and often is your best route to smoother-looking skin in a hurry.

Try an exfoliating body scrub in the shower. Our favourite is Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub. Its combination of macadamia grains, smashed brown sugar and almond oil helps buff away dead skin cells while hydrating at the same time, plus we can’t get enough of the zesty lime fragrance. Another tip is adding some mild bath oil to a warm (not hot) bath twice a week to help further boost your skin’s radiance.

For pretty toenails…

Bold, vibrant polishes are a great way to brighten up your summer look. We love these shades:

Barry M Coconut Infusion Nail Paint in Flip Flop

Seventeen Colour Carnival in Light Blue – perfect for shorter nails.

Orly Color Amp’d Flexible Color in LA Sunshine – this shade looks great on darker skin tones

For a beach-ready bikini line…

There’s nothing better than hitting the beach when the weather gets hot – but what if it catches you off-guard and you haven’t had chance to get your bikini line done? No problem. Just keep the Veet Sensitive Precision Beauty Styler in your bathroom for such emergencies. It’s great for trimming and shaping between salon visits.

For an all-over glow…

Ready to rock that strappy dress? You will be after these top tips:

• Tackle breakouts on your back that can be caused by sun cream and sweat by using a blemish-fighting product such as Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Clay Mask + Scrub

• Invest in a body brush – skincare pros recommend body brushing for glowing skin. Do it on dry skin before you shower and brush in a circular motion for three minutes. Try the Ecotools Dry Body Brush and have a go yourself
