The House of Dior

Discover the history behind Dior, the leading make up, skin care and fragrance brand.

Dior has been a leading light in the fragrance and beauty industry for decades. Now discover where and how it all started.

Christian Dior always searched his surroundings for "spots of colour that would enliven the streets of tomorrow". It all began in 1954 with a timeless lipstick that still incarnates refined elegance today. Later, Dior launched a complete make up range. Sometimes sophisticated, sometimes natural and always themselves, women discovered the pleasure of playing with shades... Today, the collections are continuously enriched with each season for a veritable whirlwind of colours.

Dior Pro-Team Make Up Artists

Representing the Dior backstage spirit, the Dior Pro Make Up Team is an international team of passionate and talented make up artists handpicked by Dior for their unique sense of style and outstanding level of make up skills. With passion for their work, these artists are devoting their talent and expertise to work exclusively for Dior .

Dior and Colour

Colour is part of the very identity of The House of Dior . In 1955, Christian Dior launched his first lipstick collection, offering eight shades from vibrant red to orange-red: Rouge Dior, a now-legendary product. Christian Dior himself named the colours of his new creations, borrowing from the pictorial, theatrical and literary vocabulary. "Gris Dior" ("Dior Gray"), "Rouge Dior" ("Dior Red") and "Rose Bonheur" ("Cheerful Pink") enriched the palette of the couturier, for whom colour responded to different types of femininity.
