L'Oreal Paris free Colour. AMAZING What a fantastic product. Not only did it cover Grey 100%. The condition of my hair feels amazing. Strong colour with the most amazing shine. Better than any other products I have purchased. Having afro/Caribbean hair which is coarse and frizzy, not only did it make my hair soft, Hence no frizz the smell is just gorgeous. Would recommend to all. I will definitely use this color again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] March 9, 2016
Disappointed! My L'Oreal Paris Preference hair colour arrived and I immediately opened it and read the instructions. My hair needed colouring badly as grey was peeping through, so I did the allergy test straight away, dabbing some of the colour gel behind my ear and leaving it there. The next morning when I awoke I noticed that it had stained my pillow case. Now I have been colouring my hair for over 6 years and have never had that happen before, so I was extremely annoyed and have struggled to get the dye out of the pillow case. That was disappointment number one. This afternoon I was ready to have my hair coloured. This is not something that I attempt to do myself as I wear glasses and can't see what I am doing without them on, so my husband normally colours my hair and he makes a very good job of it. We read through the instructions once again and he followed them as I read them out. The first thing that we noticed was that the instructions tell you to break off the tip of the applicator bottle - well fortunately he checked that before he did it because it actually screwed off and he said that if he had broken it, it would have ruined the applicator tip and would have caused us a problem - disappointment number 2 - unclear instructions! During the application he managed to dribble some of the colour on to my forehead and neck. He immediately wiped it off with a damp cloth but the stain was still there. After the development time I went into the bathroom to get in the shower to wash the colour off, but I noticed that I also had a stain under my chin which had not been wiped off as neither of us had noticed it. I got in the shower and rinsed off the colourant as per the instructions - unfortunately as I had not been the one to do the colouring I did not have the gloves on but whenever I colour my hair I have never had a problem with massaging the colour in and rinsing it off with my bear hands. This was clearly not to be the case with this make of colour - after I had rinsed the colour out of my hair my hands were stained and despite scrubbing very hard at the mark under my chin it is still faintly visible - I hope this will wear off with future washes as it looks very odd. I also found that it was very difficult to get the residue of colour out from inside and behind my ears - leaving marks on the towel that I used to dry my hair, fortunately I used an old towel. That was disappointment number 3. Once I had stepped out of the shower and looked at myself in the mirror I was totally shocked. I was not expecting the colour to be quite so dark! My natural hair colour is medium brown and in the past few years I have been using Clairol Nice 'n Easy Natural Light Brown, so this radical change in hair colour is quite startling. I did check on the box to see what shade it would turn my hair and according to the diagram on the box it indicated that it would be a natural dark brown, not almost black. That was disappointment number 4. So basically my opinion of this product and the advise to other prospective users is as follows: 1) Make sure when you do the allergy test not to apply the gel on an area of skin which will come into contact with a pillow case at night or make sure you use an old pillow case as it will leave a mark which will be hard to remove. 2) Don't break off the tip of the applicator bottle as it says in the instructions, this will unscrew. 3) Be extremely careful not to get any on your skin, or if you do wipe it off immediately or you will end up with heavy stains which will take a while to wash out. 4) Don't believe that the colour indicated on the box will be what you actually end up with and be prepared for a shock if you have never used such a dark colour before. Using the conditioner makes my hair nice and soft and I would probably say that that coupled with the grey coverage are about the only two good things about using this product. I was totally unimpressed and in fact a little upset as it has totally changed my appearance and not for the better in my opinion. The outcome of this trial is that I will not be using L'Oreal Paris Preference hair colouring ever again - I will stick to my Clairol Nice 'n Easy which leaves highlights in my hair and makes the colouring look totally natural - unlike this which makes me look like I am about to go on stage in some horror role. I am totally disappointed and totally unimpressed and I urge anyone else contemplating using this product to think very carefully before doing so unless they don't mind changing their appearance to such an extent. I have attached a photo showing me before and after so that everyone can see what this has done to me. I am now off to try and find something that might take this awful colour out of my hair. Lovely product I received this product free to try and review. I often home colour my hair so I was keen to give this a go. When it arrived my hair had a red colour on it that was fading and looking tatty. Mixing was easy one bottle into the other then shake and remove the top to apply. Tho permanent colours can have a strong smell this one wasn't too bad when applying it went on easy but was a bit drippy. 30 min later I'm ready to rinse. The product didnt lather much but ran clear fairly quickly compared to other home colours I've used and the conditioner is just lush my hair felt like silk and this continued after rinsing and drying. The colour was like it said on the box Dark brown. Once dried I loved the colour and my hair felt amazing it was so soft ,glossy ,smelt lovely and definitely looked healthier than it did before. I'm looking forward to trying the colour extender in a few weeks and I have enough conditioner left for at least 2 more uses on my shoulder length hair. In all a great home colour kit with super results I will definitely use it again 😀 [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] March 12, 2016
