Everyday stress, a busy life & poor eating habits can all have a long-term harmful effect on the heart. However, simple lifestyle changes such as eating a balanced diet and keeping fit can help to maintain a healthy heart and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.

As part of the service*, which takes place in a private consultation room, our trained pharmacists carry out a confidential survey to assess your current lifestyle. In order to calculate your cardiovascular risk, they may measure your Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, heart rate and cholesterol. You may be asked a number of questions to allow your pharmacist to build up a picture of your lifestyle, including alcohol intake, exercise habits and whether or not you smoke.

Your pharmacist will spend time with you discussing the results, and offering advice on how to improve your heart health, and provide you with information to take with you. They may refer you to your doctor if necessary.
