We now offer an instore Healthy Heart service Nationwide, in all Boots pharmacy stores!

As part of our new Healthy Heart Service, which takes place in our private consultation rooms, our trained pharmacists carry out a confidential lifestyle survey to assess your current lifestyle. In order to calculate your cardiovascular risk, where appropriate, they will measure your Body Mass Index (BMI), your blood pressure and heart rate and cholesterol (expressed as a ratio of Total Cholesterol (TC) to High Density Lipoprotein (HDL)). They will spend time with you analysing and discussing your results, and offering appropriate advice on how best to reduce your cardiovascular risk. If necessary they will refer you to your GP. In store we have a range of supportive leaflets which you can take with you to help start you on your way to a healthier heart.

Hereditary factors, lack of exercise, too much alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, and stress all have a long-term, harmful  effect on the heart. However, simple lifestyle changes such as eating a balanced diet, not smoking and keeping fit can help to maintain a healthy heart and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.
