Your Pregnancy Make-up Essentials

Not all mums-to-be are lucky enough to get the natural 'glow' that's associated with pregnancy, but the good news is that it's easy enough to fake with the right products.

Not all mums-to-be are lucky enough to get the natural 'glow' that's associated with pregnancy, but the good news is that it's easy enough to fake with the right products.

Good base

If your skin seems more blotchy and broken-out than glowing and gorgeous, getting a good base in place is essential.

You may feel exhausted while you're pregnant, but there's no need to look it – cover up dark under-eye circles and blemishes with a good concealer.

Benefit's Realness of Concealness palette 'has everything you need to make your face look radiant – from concealers to highlighters to eye lifts,' according to Mandy Morgan, 29 weeks pregnant.

(Not so) natural glow

There are loads of products to help you fake a pregnancy glow if necessary – Kathryn Chester, 28 weeks pregnant loves Clinique Up-Lighting Liquid Illuminator as it 'is very versatile and great for adding shimmer all over. You only need to use a small amount, so it seems like the product will last forever – it's great'.

To move the glow to your lips, Charlotte Coleman, 37 weeks pregnant recommends that you try L'Oreal Glam Shine Natural Glow Lip Gloss, as she loved the shine and non-sticky feel. Claire Tabraham adds that it is 'non-gloopy and great for daytime wear.'

Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Reflect Lipgloss also gets the thumbs up from mums-to-be – Mandy Morgan says 'it instantly brightened my face, and I love the sparkle it leaves on my lips.'

All about the eyes

Your eyes give you a great chance to dazzle, regardless of any hair or skin dilemmas brought about by pregnancy hormones.

Yves Saint Laurent Eclat de Givre eye shadow was loved by Claire Tabraham, who says it 'was a trendy colour, blended in smoothly and the colour stayed put.'

A good mascara will open up your eyes and draw attention to them. Diorshow Mascara was a huge hit with Rebecca Aston, who names it 'the best mascara I've ever used – my lashes look thick and full but not clogged. Brilliant.'

Get it nailed

Having neat. polished nails can lift your mood and make you feel a million dollars. Try Chanel Nail Colour, which Emma Casson, 35 weeks pregnant, says 'was fantastic - it lasts much longer than any varnish I've used before, is easy to apply neatly and is available in loads of great colours. Definitely a key product.'

L'Oréal Jet Set Nail Enamel and Estee Lauder Pure Colour Nail Laquer were also a hit with busy mums-to-be, as they dry quickly and don't chip easily.
